Hebridan SDF Corvette Iomachd Compan. Gaerd-Class by Okwa on DeviantArt (original) (raw)

Now we come to the next, completely new models. The models for the next few weeks will all revolve around the planet Hebridan.

As the Hebridan space yards are among the largest known facilities of their kind, it is not surprising that the Hebridan system is indirectly protected by three nearby SOCs due to its enormous strategic importance for the IUSP, while the 38th HSOC and the largest SDF in the IUSP directly defending the system.

And it is precisely the spaceships of this SDF that will be the focus for the near future.

Above, on the picture, you can see two B-305 B/H and three Gaerd-Class patrol ships flying over Hebridan's Moon Orkadey.

The Gaerd-Class (Hebridan for Guard-Class), manufactured by the Iomachd Compan, is a spacecraft of the type Corvette with a size of 55,4×23,9×7,25 m. The armament consists of eight Iomachd Compan. MP 50 Quadruple-Plasma-Pulse-Cannons, cal. 50 mm.

These plasma cannons are characterized by a high rate of fire per cannon barrel, which becomes a true "firestorm" by combining four cannon barrels per cannon.

The Iomachd Compan (Hebridan for Multi Corp) is one of the big competitors of the Tech Con Group.

I don't like the suggestion in the series that Tech Con could have an absolute monopoly in the economic, perhaps also political, area.

I prefer a political and economic situation for Hebridan, which is a ! very positive! version of the film "Rollerball" (1975).(! a really, really great movie!)

Several large corporate conglomerates have divided the market, perhaps even political power, among themselves on the planet Hebridan.

Tech Con is mainly responsible for the area "space travel", "space travel" in the broadest sense, not only spacecraft but also fuel for spacecraft etc.

Iomachd Compan, on the other hand, primarily produces planetary vehicles and everyday objects with gravimetric technology, ie cars, ships, but also working equipment such as wheelbarrows with gravimetric "drives". Or even "floating" food trays.

The Gaerd-Class is one of Iomachd Compan’s few attempts to gain a foothold in the spacecraft market.

Therefore, the Gaerd-Class is also equipped with a gravimetric engine, instead of the ion engines that are actually common on Hebridan.

However, the "Project Gaerd-Class” was only partially successful for Iomachd Compan.

Overall, these spacecraft are sold in 2×2 versions: two civil and two military.

Because only one of the civilian versions, a pure planetary plane, and one of the military versions, an unarmed DropShip, are real successes.

The DropShip in particular was a great success as the Free Jaffa Empire declared the Gaerd-Class the Empire's standard DropShip, capable of carrying a fully armed company of the Imperial Armed Forces.

The armed variant of the military Gaerd-Class seen here is also quite popular, but not to the extent that the Iomachd Compan hoped.

The civilian version of the Gaerd-Class, which is equipped with a hyper drive and which should still replace the numerous Tel'taks, has completely failed. Only a very few models of this version were sold.
