I keep seeing advice on here along the lines of "do one speedpaint a day" and "use references."

I was always "too busy," though. Heck, I still might be. All the same...I thought I'd give it a shot.

The reference I used for this is an AMAZING photo in my Birds of Prey photo book. <3

My picture's slightly off - wrong dimensions, and the owl is sort of tilted to the left here - but dang...if I'd tried to draw this from my head, it wouldn't have come half as close as it did.

I adore Barn Owls. They've got to be my favorite type of Owl. Those lovely faces! And the speckles! And the eyes!

Okay, that's enough squealing.

Here's hoping I can keep this experiment in practice up for a good, long time.

Oh, and this took me...what, two hours or so?
