MWF with the Hugo Meyer Orestor 31 by pagan-live-style on DeviantArt (original) (raw)
Mid Winter Fair photo's were all taken with the Hugo Meyer Orestor F2,8 100mm lens, and in general with some exceptions mostly at full lensopening.
Note : see pictures at full view !!!!!
So i had to look for subjects since i was working with a 100mm only, further i could not shoot at infinity since the lens has an Exakta bayonet for which i converted a Canon>M39 adapter in order to get it mounted on the canon body.
Since Canon has a register of 44mm and the exakta mount 44,7mm , plus the tickness of the M39 adapter in between . i end up with a difference of 1,14 mm more the the 44,7 i needed.
So infinity was at 10 meters and close up at 50cm ! instead of Infinity till 1,1 meter. its just like there is a tiny Macro extender inbetween body and lens.
But seen the first results its worth buying a canon >M42 adapter and have the forward flange grinded down to 0,7mm in order to get a correct scale of focus !!
The Orestor.
The 100mm orestor lens was made from 1966 till 1972 by the Hugo Meyer optical Factory in Gorlitz.
There are 2 models , one with a preset aperture with 15 blades and perfectly round at every aperture opening nicknamed the Zebra, this due to the fact that the aperture and focus ring have black and zilver rim.
The later model has 6 automated blades and therefor a bit harsher in the unsharpness.
Optically they are both the same , and its a clone /derivative of the famous Carl Zeiss Sonnar lens.
