This is an excellent shot, the high contrast black and white really adds to the effect. The lighting makes for a good background, and the grass fades in at just the right part.
At first I thought it would be improved had there been white in that corner instead of grass, but putting my hand up over it, I realize if you had done that, it would look almost unreal. Empty, grey figure popping out of the white, it would look as if floating in nothing.
The lighting does, however, distract in the top left near the hat. It overwhelms and blurs the outline, and takes away from focusing on the face. However, the models expression is perfect, and your eyes are drawn back to it.
The expression is also a thought provoking one, combined with the choice of clothing, I find myself wondering about her. Trying to figure out why the look on her face, creating in my mind a back story for her. All the while, keeping the shot in my minds eye, this one will stay with me for a while.
I assume that this is an outdoors shot, meaning that the sunlight glare on the hat is just there, and not as big of an issue. While I do wonder what this shot would look like had the sun been at the photographers back instead of the models, it does not take away from the fact that this is an excellent shot.
