Nightra used to be a cadet at the Kaon Police Academy, she and Strongarm used to be best friends. Her Autobot logo got damaged when she and Strongarm attempted to arrest a wrecker for speeding. Nightra got caught with a key file for the exams, she tried to get Strongarm to take the blame but Strongarm refused to lie under questioning by the Acadmey's proctors, which caused Nightra to be expelled from the Academy. She begins a life of crime until she gets pursued by an Autbot bounty hunter named Blastwave when she stole his badge and light bender. When she meets the Autobots and Strongarm, she claims herself that she's a bounty hunter and Blastwave was one of the bounties. Her ruse went on until Strongarm discovers the truth as she apprehends Nightra and hands her to Blastwave. When Blastwave was on his way to deliver Nightra to the authorities until they got attacked by a Decepticon mercenary named Oil Slick, they fought him off as hard as they could until he shots them with a cosmic rust blaster as it slowly begins to kill them. Blastwave injects Nightra and himself with the antidote, it saved Nightra from being rust to death but it didn't saved him enough as his spark chamber began to rust into dust. In her grief, she vowed to have revenge on Oil Slick for killing Blastwave, she's begins on her manhunt to find him. During her travels, she meets Steeljaw, a Decepticon criminal and former scientist persuades her to join his pack and Nightra agrees as they replaced her Autobot logo to a Decepticon one. When Steeljaw decided to do an experiment of cybertronian and organic species combine together, he needs a test subject to do it as Nightra volunteers to be the test subject despite Steeljaw's concerns as he allows Nightra to enter in the operating tube as he begins the mutation. Steeljaw uses the DNA of a moth for the mutation. When it was done, Nightra becomes a techno - organic, she develops moth-like abilities and her alt. mode is a moth. She changes her name into Nightmothra.
