When I was listening to the audiobook "At the Earth's Core", there was mention of a "Stone Age Tiger" and I took it as a fictional species of Giant Cat that Edgar Rice Burroughs had invented for the world of Pellucidar, though I learned upon research that the Tiger was actually a Smilodon, so this creature design was the result of misconception. But regardless, I think this makes for an awesome creature, so I'm just gonna go with it.
