Description

The eeo inhabit primarily freshwater rivers and lakes of agrona including some brackish water. They feed on free-floating plankton near the surface of the water and in the sediment. The fine whiskers that extend from the mouth filter out these small particles and are sucked into the mouth. As a result, they congregate in large schools to better protect themselves. They swarm during microbial blooms to mass feed. The sulfur they accumulate from the hospital they feed on leads to them having expelled large amounts of sulfur waste which helps continue the sulfur cycle. This transports sulfur from coastal brackish water environments upriver and inland. Their undulating lateral fin allows them quick bursts of speed but excellent maneuverability including hovering and swimming backwards. They are primarily hermaphroditic and during the mating season, they will fertilize each other and lay their eggs upstream from the coast. Normally these eggs are purposely deposited and hidden, with eggs having preferred hiding spots.
