Oh look humans by Piranhartist on DeviantArt (original) (raw)

A good while back I was asked this question for what Goro might look like as a human. And at the time I mostly brushed it off, since I always had a personal pet peev over non human characters suddenly getting human designs :,P (moreso in actual storylines than just the general practice of it) So I didn't think much of it, since creating 'gijinka' designs was never something I've been into.

But, my curiosity started building up, and eventually I wanted to give it an honest try ;v; But only under the condition that it would never be posted unless I was genuinely happy with it. (cause alotta times I tend to post nearly everything I make).

nEEDLESS TO SAY with the amount of doodles I wound up making, I got both their designs to a spot I could be happy with <3 At least on a similar level to other alternate creatures I've drawn them as like dragons n' fairies .;P

AU-wise if there were a storyline with him and Kito being humans when they met, I did think a lil bit into how that could play out. (ง'̀-'́)ง

Some thingies consistent between 'human' Goro and his normal self includes him still being a demiboy (wherein he identifies male but is otherwise agender), Braeburn passing on the ability for him to still manifest fire, he's inhumanly tall, and he still has an immensely irrational fear of water.

The general backstory for Goro starts out similar to his real self too. Goro was raised up by the forest spirit Braeburn, until a not-so-nice fella came by and threw Goro out of the picture (and gave him a jacked up eye while at it). From there Goro gets completely lost from the woods and stuck out wandering in the city. He was creeped out by a lot of interactions that humans had with each other, and the interactions they'd have towards HIM didn't improve his mindset. As he got older he became more and more uncomfortable interacting with anything. Other humans would chastise him for an innumerable amount of things just for existing. He's especially disdainful of others who talked about his looks behind his back, or would snidely remark on how he'd never get some sort of "partner", when he's always been disinterested and unnerved with the idea of romance. On the one hand he longed for somebody to talk to, but on the other became very bitter towards anyone of a similar age. So he eventually found an abandoned shack in a more rural area to hole up in, while only going into public to find necessities. It wasn't until a little Kito snuck away from her boarding house to explore the woods outside the city, that he found someone he could willingly care about and open up to. She found herself get caught in the rain and lost, where Goro overheard her crying outside- and he braved his fear of storms to let her in. (asillustratedabove)

From there the story'd take an Earnest and Celestine sort of vibe, trying to keep out of trouble with the law while also figuring out how they can freely live with each other. It'd also be from adopting her that she could introduce him to new things in the world, thanks to her annoyingly consistent curiosity.

Bonus bit of trivia for human Kito is that before Goro finds and adopts her, her name from the boarding house she lived in was 'Caroline'. Which is a reference to my favorite female Animal Crossing villager (✿´‿`) (who I realized alSO happens to share a red/yellow/aqua colorscheme like Goro's got)

double bonus she calls him dad a lot more openly than in canon

I also drew some normal beans for good measure because that's k in d a mandit o r y for m e
