Avatar Wars by PlaidTidings on DeviantArt (original) (raw)
Well, this was inevitable really...
I'm a HUGE fan of Nickelodeon's Avatar series, so when one of my professors told us to do a ' parody' piece over the break I figured it was the perfect justification for making my first ever piece of fan art.
For those of you who don't get the reference, it's a mock up of the original movie poster art for the first Star Wars movie.
Aang= Luke Skywalker
Katara= Leia
Zuko= Darth Vader
Sokka= C3PO
Toph= R2D2
Solar Eclipse= Death Star
Eastern Temple= Fleet of X-Fighters

Updatedness
With the end of the show behind us now, I find myself wondering at what happened afterward...
I've come up with a few ideas, and seeing as how this was my token bit of fan art, I figured I'd put them down here for posterity's sake
It's crazy long, but I couldn't think of anywhere else to put it, really.
**After The War...**
-Aang and Katara figure out that it's too weird for them to be together as anything more than friends, so Katara goes home to train bad-ass girl benders while Aang does his Avatar of Diplomacy thing, helping to re-establish where the nations' boundaries should be and working hard to restore diplomatic relations between the Fire Nation and everyone else, all the while looking for potential airbenders to train along the way.
-One of the Kyoshi girls happens to find Sokka's sword, and he goes back to Master Piandao's dojo with Suki and the girls to become even more bad-ass at the art of Kicking Butt and Taking Names. He also becomes the Diplomatic Liaison to the Water Nations - 'cause he's just such a smarty pants, is a Friend of the Avatar, and is the next best choice to his sister who has gone and hidden herself away.
-Toph initially attempts to settle down as an Earthbending Master herself, however quickly gets fed up with the parents that are constantly throwing their little brats her way in the hopes of them becoming The Next Avatar under her training, not to mention having to deal with all the little brats themselves. So she decides to travel with Aang instead, serving as his Best Good Buddy, Bodyguard and Diplomatic Liaison for the Earth Kingdom.
-Zuko, now king, puts his Uncle in charge while he goes on an epic quest to Find Mommy. He's got some serious pressure on him to take a queen as well, so said quest is also an excuse to be by himself for a while in order to figure out what to do about Mai, who he thinks he still loves, but isn't so sure about marrying. Mommy is discovered and, as it turns out, is an amazingly bad-ass ninja lady who teaches him that, now that he has self-respect, he doesn't actually love Mai and her bitter, whiny outlook on life anymore.
-Azula is committed to a maximum security mental ward, located in a remote area of the Northern Water Tribe's territory and completely surrounded by frozen tundra.
-Tai Lee goes back to the circus, having never really wanted much to do with all that fighting in the first place. She happens to meet Haru while touring the Earth Kingdom, and the two settle down together to make many, many bouncing little baby benders together.
-Mai, made even more bitter at the world by Zuko's rejection, disappears.
-Cabbage Guy, sick of always having his cabbages trampled by stampeding adventurers, retires to one of the abandoned Air Temples to tend the vegetable gardens in peace and quiet.
**Years Pass And...**
-Aang is the Wise Avatar solving the world's problems and teaching the little kidlets the science of playing glider tag and zooming around on air scooters
-Katara is one very happy mother hen with her brood of bad-ass girl benders, who not only kick all the boys butts in combat, but the most talented of which are selected to tour the nations as a premier performance group, putting on spectacular water shows for nobility and commoner alike
-Sokka is the Water Nation Ambassador and married to Suki, who has herself gone on to become the Greatest Swordsman (or Woman) in the World, and the two of them have a small brood of little ones running around keeping life interesting
-Toph has become Earth Nation Ambassador, though she still refuses to teach bending to anyone she doesn't personally offer to train
-Iroh is retired now, and spends his days running the tea shop he always dreamed of. Which, as it happens, has grown so successful that it is now a popular chain of shops found throughout the four Nations.
-Zuko goes on to become the King Made of Win and Awesome (yes, that would be his official title )
-Cabbage Guy spends the rest of his life chasing errant airbender kidlets out of his vegetable gardens, as Wise Avatar just so happened to choose that particular temple to begin rebuilding the Air Nation. He dies after losing his entire garden in a freak Air Bison stampede.
**If Romances Happened (ie My Ships)...**
-Aang and Toph, after traveling extensively for many years together, come to the realization that no one else truly understands their quirks quite like the other. As puberty causes their bodies to blossom so does their love, Toph growing into a strong, beautiful young woman and Aang maturing into a handsome and wise young man. They eventually marry, and astonish the world when their offspring prove to be capable of both Air and Earth bending.
-Zuko and Katara see each other again years later at some formal function they're both required to attend. The two of them fall into an open and warm friendship that, rather quickly, grows into something more when they realize the only one truly good enough for such a huge mama's boy is an even bigger mothering hen. A turbulent and steamy (pun intended) passion erupts between them that surprises none of their friends. The world is scandalized when Zuko asks Katara to become his queen- and she refuses! Zuko is forced on yet another quest in order to prove to her that she is his One True Love. Eventually he convinces her, and they go on to become the Royal Couple Made of Win and Awesome
The Plot Twist No One Saw Coming!!!
-Jet isn't dead! He returns to profess his love for Katara but is too late! She has already accepted that Zuko is her One True Love. Jet's hatred for the fire nation is reborn and he vows to never rest until every last bit of land stolen from the Earth Kingdom has been reclaimed (regardless of whether the people of the land want to be Earth Kingdom or no). He is joined by Mai, whose rejection at the hands of Zuko has turned her love into a bitter, burning hatred. Their hate brings them together and they succumb to a torrid and ferocious love affair. Mai convinces Jet to help her free the bat-shit nutty Azula, thus forcing The Avatar & Friends to reunite and once more Save The World!
