Description

This was the official flag of Hong Kong between 1959 and 1997. The flag was used during the British rule. After several versions this was the latest British flag of Hong Kong. The flag is based on British colonial imperial symbols. The blue ensign and the Uinon Jack was commonly used for British ruled territories. The flag contains the coat of arms of Hong Kong. It has a lion and a dragon so the flag is also called The Lion and the Dragon flag. The coat of arms depicts traditional Chinese sampan boats.
