Jesse (Marvel's Transformers) by PookieArt on DeviantArt (original) (raw)

One of the things I find wierd is just how much the original Marvel Transformers series dovetales the original Sunbow cartoon. During the Bob Budiansky years, the mjority of the adventures were on earth and delved more into the Autobots' connection with average, everyday humans, like Bill the Trucker, Charlene the cashier who wanted to be a cowgirl (who I did a set of by the way---let me know if you want to see it), the EEEEEEVIL Blackrock, and of course, the Witwickys. Meanwhile, the Simon Furman years was more space-based, which earth wasn't focused on as much (yes there were still Earth adventures, but it wasn't the primary focus).

While the toons had Spike as the resident Witwicky representative, the comics had Buster as the rep, and they both played the role of the POV character. Neither meet each other originally...until the Headmaster years, what with Hasbro having them push the toy line and giving Spike his own action figure (and the comics made Spike BLONDE for some reason). And while Spike had Carly, Buster had Jesse.
