What Dreams May Come by powerpointer on DeviantArt (original) (raw)

We all stood silently on the top of the mountain. Through a hole in the clouds, we saw the most beautiful sight that we would ever see. Nobody alive today would ever see this again. With enough force to make the ground quiver, the massive star, Alpha Centauri, directly above us, went nova.
There was a blinding flash that forced everyone on the mountain to look away. When we could finally see again, there was an enormous cloud of space debris, and a swirling band of rocks and debris spiraled away from the star and burned up in our atmosphere. The scariest part of it all was the total silence that it occured in for the first minute. After a colorful parade of dust had made its way away from the star, a sound like no other slammed, full force, through our home planet.
Imagine the loudest thunder you have ever heard in your entire life, coupled with the sonic boom of 5 jets, triplefold. The sheer size of the shockwave that hit our planet was enough to start 4 giant avalanches lower down on the moutain from where we were. They thundered down the mountain, initiated by the loudest sound this planet has ever, and will ever, hear.
