My first critique! Well, I saw this and was immediately drawn to it because I love the Ophelia theme. As far as editing goes, I have a little bit of feedback that I hope you'll find constructive! Take what you will from it, I know that you have to stick true to what you see first. <3
Anyways, firstly I notice your metadata. You shot at 1/1600 of a second but at 400 ISO. If you have the light for it, I always recommend setting your ISO at the lowest it can go. Most cameras will go down to 100 or 200 so try those out! It will help the noise not compete with the debris you love in the water. <img src="e.deviantart.net/emoticons/s/s…" width="15" height="15" alt="" title=" (Smile)"/> I'd also try a slightly smaller aperture only because her face seems a bit soft f/8 would really work well here. You can always selectively blur later! This doesn't bother me so much in this particular image because of the romance it has but I always love to see the texture of skin that only a sharp capture can provide.
Color wise, I like that it's a bit desaturated but remember that you always want to have a black and a white in your image. Naturally rules are meant to be broken but I would looove to see a rich black from her hair in the water. As for highlights, you have a couple on the rings in her dress and teeth but one that distracts me is this tiny water droplet above her lip. It's a pinpoint of white that just draws my eye away from her mouth.
Theme wise, I think you could have done just a few things to really spice this up. Add more debris! Get some in her hair, floating by her neck. Have her eyes open! Give the viewer some mystery as to whether she's alive or not. Crop in even closer! Maybe you thought of these and didn't like them, that's alright! I just really like to see something abnormal in an "expected" image that keeps the viewer coming back.
Also, with all the downloading and stealing of images going on around the web make sure you're alright with somebody downloading the original file size as yours would let me get off with a good sized print! Careful darling! <3
I sure hope this long speech helps! I love your work!
