...that we are...and are not saying.

"Right!" Sally said with an affirmative nod, but emotion still heavy in her eyes. Before anything more could happen, she slipped a hand behind Sonic's neck, and softly pressed her lips against his. She had kissed him like this many times before, a quick peck to signify her gratitude and hint at her affection. This time, she lingered. She let herself drift closer than they had done in the past, and her free hand slipped down to his, lacing their fingers together.

Then Sally kissed him and everything came crashing to a halt. It was like something deep inside him had called for an all stop. For a very long second, he couldn’t think, he couldn’t breath. His heart literally skipped a beat, but it wasn’t a bad feeling. In fact it was a really good feeling.
His eyes, which had been wide with surprise, slipped shut, and for the next moment nothing else in the entire world existed. Only the two of them.
Then Sally stepped back, and he could function again. He blinked, his cheeks burning. He was pretty sure his face was as red as his sneakers. He cleared his throat awkwardly, suddenly extremely self conscious. His stomach seemed to be trying to perform somersaults for some reason, and had Sally’s eyes always been quite that blue?
“Hey, I missed you too,” he said, trying to sound cool and unruffled, but it came out strangely soft. He cleared his throat again, glancing down at his sneakers then back at her. “Come on, let’s get out of here.” He turned and lead her towards the door.
He didn’t let go of her hand.
