Aki, the Oni by rahea-the-witch on DeviantArt (original) (raw)
What is an oni? Or mabye WHO is it?
An oni, in Japanese, means a demon.
The boy you see is a demon in a human body, who leads a life of a daimyo's (noble's, more like lord's) son in feudal Japan of XV century. In the picture he's smiling, but in reality he's one big jerk - listening to no-one but himself, disobeying his parents and having numerous ladies, despite the young age, who he always dumps when he gets bored. That kind of a guy I feel you like him already
His name is Aki or Rikimaru (for my sentiment for good old Tenchu saga). He's got two names and uses them dependable on the circumstances. To tell you the truth, he's got many more, but those two are most commonly used, so I'll stop at this point. And if you're wondering whether he's a character taken from any series, the answer is NO. I always tell basic information about my characters and Aki is the character created by me.
One year ago, when I was still unaware what it means not to have free time, I threw myself into creating the series of drawings called Cute x Cute, featuring boys in various kimonos. I've always wanted to come back to this idea, because I especially like... boys in kimonos (Aw.....so cute;3) And here I go, with another one - a little bit unpolished, because I haven't been drawing since July Oh well, I think holidays mean holidays, not work, ne?
The worst thing that happened to this picture is that the tatami-like mat, on which Aki was sitting, DISAPPEARED in the process of scanning. I mean it really did 0_0. It was wery fair in color, so doesn't matter how many times I changed settings for scanning, it never scanned properly. Every time, an awful puddle-like thing appeared instead of my precious mat, so in the end I decided to erease the mat completelly, instead of leaving the ugly grayish spot in the middle of the picture. The composition suffers because of that, so I'll be working hard not to lose anything from any drawing of mine in the future Cheers
