Story: A relative of Aiya’s owner, Xie moved from China to Inaba to help out with the store. When (Yu) moves in, Xie is a senior (3rd year) and his social link can be unlocked via. talking to him in the library, talking to him the next day + agreeing to be tutored, then talking to him in Aiya.
Once Xie’s social link is set, (Yu) can spend time being tutored by Xie, which results in an increase in both knowledge + social link. Xie may also comment on the recent murders, allowing the investigation team further insight into what the general population believes about recent events.
Xie is portrayed as a serious teen, who focuses on work rather than his social life, but social link points can be gained by (Yu) making jokes with him, which reveals that Xie has a good sense of humor. After social link reaches the 3rd rank, or after Yukiko’s persona is unlocked, Xie begins to decline study sessions because of his work at Aiya. Eventually, he doesn’t show up to school at all, and appears on the midnight channel.
Xie’s appearance on the midnight channel takes the form of a game show. Shadow!Xie, taunts the investigation team to come and be participants in his, “Maze of Freedom” -a seemingly invisible space-. When the investigation team enters the dungeon the space is covered by fog that not even their glasses can see through (although Teddie still keeps a map of where they’ve been). (Yu)+Co. must blindly make his way through the dungeon where they face off against Shadow!Xie.
Shadow!Xie reveals that Xie has been struggling with the idea of restraint, and he’s too scared to reach out to others. Although serious and hard-working on the outside, he just wants to have fun and express himself. After Xie denies his shadow, it turns into it’s true form, the Nurikabe. Physical attacks don’t work on it, and (Yu)+Co. must focus on wind/light attacks. The Nurikabe appears as a blobby shadow with glaring eyes. It’s strength is in poison/fear status effects.
After Xie accepts his shadow he is granted the persona Enenra, which takes the form of a masked humanoid wisp donning a wide-brimmed hat. He admits that he let work and entrance exams get to him and thanks the investigation team before going to tell the people at Aiya that he’s taking the day off.
The next day Xie is back in school, and is happier. He smiles more, and reveals that he is somewhat of a jokester. Like previous victims, he can’t remember anything about the kidnapper, except that he went out to the back of the shop. He becomes a party member, as long as the investigation team enters the dungeon on a day he isn’t working.
