yyyeeeaaaaAAAAHHH I think this look is what I've been trying to achieve with my artstyle lately,, the process being; doing a relatively clean sketch // messy lineart, filling in flat colors, putting in some basic lighting/shades to get all the right colors prepared,,-merge most layers- and then paint in details, smooth things out, clean the edges.
Efficient, relatively flexible, quick, and nice looking
Previous tries have been things like; going from rough sketch to painting (spent a lot of time cleaning things up) / or clean lineart and then painting in details (barely painted over anything, because edges were already clean and didn't want to mess with things too much) / or painting everything from the very start (gets really unmanageable when the character design is even remotely intricate)
I will probably still mix things up depending on the artpiece,, the process is probably still mostly dependant on the character/scene/mood I'm in ;I
