You mean the creator of the cartoon is your friend? Or is Ayane the character based on a real person who is also your friend? (Or both?)
It's always fun making fanart of friends' works. We used to do that a lot in grade school when we all did our art right next to each other. Sometimes we'd draw each other's characters and see what the style change looked like.
