Description

I'm a big fan of the art of Alan Davis, and try to devour as much of his artwork as I can. Which means copious amounts of the 80's Marvel series Excalibur. And one of my favorite designs from that series is Rachel Summers Phoenix. I really like the simplistic, all red costume, with the hound spikes along the front and arms, along with the fiery phoenix effect and markings on her face. I just really love that solid, block of color design, as I felt it went really well with the other female members of Excalibur, who also had similar monochromatic looks.

I've done a few drawings of Rachel in the past. But I've felt I've improved slightly since then, and wanted to try out some coloring techniques that I've refined since then, and now seemed as good a time as any to try it.
