Description

The days flashed by for Carl, who was enjoying his time as a driver enormously. On one early morning, he had arrived to Tidmouth Sheds to get James out for another day of shunting. There, he found that James was still asleep. Before he could walk over to wake him, Henry the Green Engine called him over. When Carl did so, Henry told him that although he was doing a fine job, there was something special that he needed to do in order for James to perform at his best. He whispered it to him, then sniggered quietly as a confused Carl walked over to James. When he woke up, Carl explained to James what Henry had told him. James was furious and would’ve blown steam at Henry for his trick if he could: the red engine knew very well that he certainly didn’t need a pair of bootlaces to do his job well.

Carl didn’t realize it just yet, but he had put James in an even more foul mood than he already was after his new driver wasn’t the golden opportunity that he thought he’d be. Now he had to go and remind him of his most embarrassing mishap?! Disgusting!

Oh in that one episode of “Shining Time Station” when Mr. Conductor said that strings are a problem solver and said a shoe lace and a newspaper helped James before telling the story.
