Description

Jurupari, also known as Yurupari, is a mythological character in the culture of many South American Indians. The Mawé people portray Jurupari not only as a demon, but as evil itself, the one who gave birth to other demons. This version of the legend says that this entity can enter people's minds while they sleep and cause terrible and vivid nightmares. The most terrible thing is that Jurupari can also tighten people's throats to stop them from screaming, which can result in suffocation and death. Although the Jurupari figure is most famous for being the father of demons, there is another version in which he is a lawgiver of the gods.
