Personally, I think the kiss completely disabled him but didn't kill him. He was now helpless and couldn't do anything to resist when Ivy started to strangle him, laughing in triumph. She took her time to finish him off because she was enjoying herself so much, watching and feeling him die slowly. Eventually when the deadly deed was done, she gave his lifeless body to her voracious plants to consume. Batman no more.
