Probably my last big artwork of the year. Charon and Armistice out playing in the snow! This is something I had planned since 2014. I even drew out the concept roughs back then, but never got around to drawing main product because I hadn't given Armistice a solid design yet (and I wanted to draw it in the winter, which is only for a few months of the year ). Now that I finally have a design for her, with it being December, I finally drew it! :,D This was inspired by the Sonic Channel wallpapers from the 2011-2016 era, most specifically between 2013-2016:

Those remain my favorite Sonic Channel wallpapers by far since they illustrated the characters doing normal everyday things. They gave me a lot of inspiration. This may not have been drawn/colored in the wallpapers' style, but the idea for the scene was inspired by it. I was even considering putting in one of the wallpaper backgrounds for it, but I decided to add in a little bit of sky and make the rest of it transparent. (I'm not really good at making the transparency since I have to do it in Gimp, given that Sai doesn't have that capability that I'm aware of.) Almost has a bit of a snow globe look to it now, which I like. I really wasn't sure how to show the impressions in the snow where Armistice grabbed a bunch in her hands to throw into the air, but I hope it looks all right. I really enjoyed working on the fuzzy appearance of the pompoms on their outfits. xD

Winter is my favorite season and I love winter-themed artwork. Beyond the initial barrenness and death one might associate with winter, there's a lot of beauty and color. Snow is white and pure, and glistens beautifully when light shines on it, making it a spectacular sight on a clear night when it's freshly fallen, and even in the morning sun. And it's a time of light, especially in December around the Christmas and Hanukkah holidays. While I miss the long hours of daylight sometimes, when the sun goes down early, I love that it's early enough to still see towns all beautifully lit up amidst the snow since most businesses are still open and people are still up at 6 PM. Then there's lighting candles, which warm up the atmosphere with its light, AND HOT CHOCOLATE. It's just a really nice time of year to me.
