Kevin the Mudkip by Salioka-chan on DeviantArt (original) (raw)

A girl was visiting her friend one day.
She gave her the news that she was moving away so that she would be able to breathe better, out in the country. So her friend thought that would be a very lonely place so she gave her a poke-egg.

Smiling she accepted that egg saying she'll never be lonely now that she has a friend who will always be with her.

So the next day she was shipped off to a cottage in the country where she could see nothing but trees and grass.

But closing her eyes. She felt happiness well inside of herself as she stared at the small egg in her hand.

She took care of that small egg for many weeks before it showed signs of life. She was so excited when it hatched. She was delighted to see it was a mudkip, opening its eyes and looking up at her it gave her the biggest grin she'd ever seen.

Taking it in her arms she named it Kevin and they were the best of friends. Never had she once put him inside a pokeball. Saying he should always be able to walk around freely.

So years passed, and they were close, and they were happy. She had made a red bandana and at the ends she attached two bells. Explaining to Kevin she said one of the bells represented her and the other represented Kevin.

They both liked the idea and she started to attempt to train Kevin. She knew the day where she would not be able to be with him was close so she wanted to make sure he was ready for the world without her.

Then one day she wouldn't wake up. Kevin realized what she meant the night before by saying good-bye to him. For days he cried over her, not wanting to acknowledge her death.

But eventually he could cry no more tears. He eyes were dry and he buried her behind her home.

There he pledged that no matter who came he would protect her home and her memory.

From that day on he took the bandanna and placed it around his neck standing in front of the cottage he never once let a single pokemon through into it.

The people in the near by area spread rumors about the strong mudkip that protected the cottage.

A few trainers came to attempt to catch it but they never succeeded, in the end they were always defeated by the scarred mudkip.

Those tales spread and even more trainers came to test their skill against the undefeatable mudkip. None ever beat him not once because he would never let anyone taint her memory. He would keep that promise as long as he lived.

Even now he stands there staring out into the bright blue sky knowing that she's in a better place now.

So :iconfuyugi: requested a mudkip so I decided while drawing it to make a not so cute mudkip. As I drew I made him a story, a sad story I guess so that people would understand why he wasn't so cute.

Anyway enjoy!

Please comment and I'll respond thanks.
