Adam had a darkness growing inside him, which started to grow after he and Eva were expelled from Eden. To protect his children, Adam used his power to remove all the darkness that was within himself. But that darkness didn't just die off, it took the form of an Angel and quickly became one of the most powerful Angels in Heaven.
