A cool, dry wind kicked up dust in the wide cut in the hill made for the two rail lines that sat within. A streamlined bullet-style high-speed train sat at rest in the darkness, glinting reflections of the moonlight off of its blue and gray hull. The windowless locomotive in the front had a long downward-tapering nose which widened as it went back, eventually blending in with the form factor of the freight cars behind. The railcars were all of the same design—modular in nature with a rectangular cut-out in the top which allowed the lowering of various types of freight containers into the car’s interior. An orange accent line ran from the nose of the locomotive all the way down the twenty to thirty car length of the train, ending on the nose of an opposing locomotive in the back.
