I've been doodling trash lately, mainly for my DnD people, and that included a doodle of little Dekker waving a farming sickle about. Which has now become something fun to think about because he'd be SO FREAKIN' TINY it's adorable - like just imagine a child but half their size and you've got Dekker 8D

Apart from teeny tiny Dekker, I've just been thinking about his backstory a little - it's not changing, I'm just thinking on it more/developing points. I've always imagined him to be a bit of a mummy's boy, where Mira knew what he used to get up to, but as her only little oddball son, she'd let it slide (unlike his father who ruled with an iron fist). But before Dekker became a little more quirky and a handful, I think he'd glue himself to his mother - if Dekker's comfortable with someone (read: only really Zeke or occasionally Eldris), he's pretty snuggly/likes physical contact when sleeping (he regularly lies across Zeke's legs ;D) - but hates it when he's awake/conscious, so that's going to have to come from somewhere prior to him going loco.

Similarly, while Dekker's family is still around in my writing, in his DnD campaign, his family were killed off by the Big Bads in their search for him and his buddies. It's always kind of been in the background as likely, but it was confirmed a session ago, and his immediate response was to shrug it off and be "eh, like I care". But thinking on it, I'd say he's actually quite upset deep down because even though he didn't get on with Cian, his father, in a village where he was pushed around a lot, his family were the ones who didn't shun him. I also imagine that for all the desperation he had to get away from his home and the bravado and disregard for leaving his parents behind, he probably had a tearful mother to pat on the back awkwardly. So as plain and boring as it may be, I noticed that in the previous design of Mira, she had a clasp on her shawl that was accidentally the same as the one Dekker uses for his hood - so naturally they're the same thing now and it was the only thing he'd take to remember home by. Mira likely adored Dekker and if she had to pick favourites he'd win over his older twin sisters, if only because he's the youngest, a boy, a bit of a runt and markedly different in appearance to everyone in the Greenfellow family.

I'm also a sucker for contrasts, and contrasting little subdued Dekker with what he's turned out now amuses me - little bby to kooky assassin bby ;D

And of course I need to practise women D:< So Dekker's mummy gets to be today's guinea pig. Plz excuse the crappy background as well, I wanted to do something rather than just a plain colour so have some wheat, as per the main crop his home farm used to grow C:
