To challenge the Republic’s naval might and secure local system and intergalactic dominance alike in their bid for secession, the Concordance needed warships that met or exceeded their opposition. Denied many of the traditional yards within the Core to construct these vessels, the Concordance reached out to manufacturers that were considered second-tier or outright snubbed by the Galactic Republic with respect to lucrative military contracts. Of these, it would be cooperation between Loronar and SoroSuub to produce the imposing Resistance-class battle carrier that would often become the centerpiece of their fleets.

Larger than nearly all of the Republic Navy’s capital ships in the early Clone Wars, the Resistance-class was also well-armored, well-shielded, and outgunned them. Its impressive 132 starfighter capacity was only exceeded by its own incorporation of Short-Range-Attack-Fighter launch racks, further increasing that capacity to a total of 192 fighters; far more than any capital ship in the Republic could ferry. Additionally, the Resistance-class was developed as a survivable, modular-based vessel; critical battle damage that would otherwise cripple a similarly-sized capital ship could be ejected with those break-away sections and prevent cumulative damage and/or outright system failures to the core ship.

Despite the Concordance’s ultimate defeat, Loronar would further study the effectiveness of the Resistance-class design, and ultimately develop the Strike-class cruiser for the Galactic Empire.Commissioned artwork by Adam Kopala adamkop.deviantart.com
