Time seemed like it didn’t matter aboard the Dutchman, almost halting to a crawl as the days continued. Things did not get easier for me as I worked as hard as any of the crew, if not harder. Day after day, I did all sorts of difficult tasks. Checking the cannons and weapons, moving heavy objects…and the pointless swabbing and cleaning for the sheer purpose of adding insult to injury. I was certainly kept busy. Crewmen sometimes sought me out to antagonize me whether I was working or not. I tried to always deescalate the situation, but it always ended with me receiving emotional and physical bruises. Constantly, I was pushed around and taunted at.
