Happy new year everybody! This work was a fairly meditative piece for me for most of the process. It was a very slow thing to lightly carve out the forms like interconnected rivers in the paper. It began as a work about solitude and being lost in quiet creative wanderings. But in the lead up to the new year I found that it took on a much bolder and more energised tone, with the warm bursts of yellow and orange taking this piece to a different place. The subject of the painting is still essentially the same but instead of feeling quiet and passive, the flowing creative energy is charged with purpose. Hopefully it sets the tone for the year
