#10: Bellum

Now, as I said in my picture of Dethl for this year's Top 10, my ranking's no longer apply to my liking the characters, which rings true here as I both hate the game this character comes from and thing it's design is awful but all the same it's still an end boss which accounts for something and I wan to express the fact that there ARE more final bosses in the Zelda series besides Ganondorf/Gano which includes Bellum... sadly.

Now, you may be wondering why I dislike Bellum so much... well just look at him! He's just a big eye with more eyes on it! Sheesh, the Legend of Zelda sure does love eyeball related enemies don't they? I mean, if this guy was a mid-boss, or temple boss, or maybe even a redesign for Wart Id be fine with him, but as a final boss!? Bellum is made out to be this unspeakable evil throughout the game and this is all we got?

Now, I'll admit, I'm biased. Phantom Hourglass is my least favorite Zelda game of all time! Even more than Link's Adventure, which is saying something! At least back then, they didn't know what they were doing, by now, they should! So in ways, since he is the cause of all the problems in Phantom Hourglass, I can kind of blame him for the game's shittyness. Wait! No I can't! It's actually all the protagonist's fault! It was the Temple of the Ocean King that I hated so much! FUCK YOU OSHUS!

Despite all that, I had yet to make a shoutout to Phantom Hourglass, for obvious reasons, so... here ya go!

Another issue I have is that he's just... THERE! Phantom Hourglass was "claimed" to be a direct sequel to Wind Waker, one of my favorite games, yet besides it being sea based and having same characters it had NO connection to it whatsoever! And Bellum was nothing more than a tacked on, faceless evil. Even Dethl, who's as boring a final villain as you can get at least SPOKE! The only thing that really spiced up the fight with Bellum was that he actually forces you to fight the only good thing in that game, Linebeck, so it was pretty intense, but really. Look at him! Bellum is just a big, indescribable, Lovecraftian horror from the-wait!

...Phantom Hourglass takes place entirely on the sea... Bellum is a large, indescribable dark god that comes from the ocean... why didn't I realize it before!? Bellum's one of the Great Old Ones! okay... with that fact in mind, Bellum is now one of the greatest things to come out of the Legend of Zelda. That's why he gets at least rank 10.
