Known as the Empress, the 2816 was built in 1930 and is pretty much original and well taken care of.
Its oil fired now and not coal but its very fast and powerful.

The Empress has come through the Rocky Mountains in celebration of the 125th anniversary of the "Last Spike" in the railroad linking Canada's East to West by train.
The last spike was driven in 1885 and was on tour with the train which came through our town.

As well as taking a few panoramas and many, many single shots, I had the pleasure of sitting in the driver's seat
I hope to find some time soon to upload a few of them but I haven't worked on them yet since I've been so busy but I hope soon I was told its rare that any photographers get the chance but my wittiness and charm seemed to get me in
