By looking at the image my guess is somewhat the same as the other comments, but instead of society, I feel like its the darkness within ourselves. Darkness is symbolic of evil, and to me, it seems, with the way her hair is colored in, the darkness is taking over her.

I feel like the photo shows our demons overcoming us.

And with the way she is positioned, her back is towards the light instead of the darkness. It is as if she is actually submissive towards it her demons. Either its because she accepts it or she cant be helped and she knows it so she keeps her eyes shut, hence the name.

It's like you know something bad is happening, but you are too helpless that you just go with it.

At the same time...
With the way her arms are positioned, we can't really say she is hiding her face pose or doing a euphoric pose. So we can't really tell if she is really rejecting the darkness or what.
