Thank You, Thinkway Toys (2/18/24) by SliceandDiceArt on DeviantArt (original) (raw)

It has been recently revealed that Thinkway Toys, the toy company responsible for producing some of the most iconic Toy Story toys, such as the original 1995 Woody and Buzz Lightyear figures, The Toy Story Signature Collection Line, The Stars and Stripes Woody and Buzz, and countless more, shut down in 2023 after 39 years of operation. Their headquarters has since been demolished, and their CEO, Albert Chan, is now retired.

This isn't surprising, however, as their Toy Story 4 toys in 2019 suffered a MASSIVE drop in quality, and they lost the Toy Story license in late 2021. It was clear they had been struggling for several years, and the pandemic certainly did not help them at all, so it was inevitable that they would close down. However, it's extremely sad that they won't be coming back for Toy Story 5. That job is now up to Mattel, Hasbro, and The Disney Store. But I think their toys suck ass compared to the incredible effort Thinkway put into their toys. I'll always be grateful for what Albert and the entire Thinkway toys staff did to make my childhood incredible.

Thank you.
