This is the Real Grade 1/144 Gundam Epyon. This mobile suit comes to us from Mobile Suit Gundam Wing, and actually had two different pilots in the series; Zechs Merquise, and Heero Yui. The Gundam Epyon was created by Treize Khushrenada while he was placed under confinement by the Romefeller Foundation. In keeping with Treize's philosophy, the Epyon eschews cowardly long-range weapons in favor of chivalrous close combat. Treize also installed a modified version of the Zero System known as Epyon System in the cockpit, making this suit a powerful opponent. The Epyon can also transform into a "mobile armor" mode for high-speed flight and cruising in space.

This is actually my first Gunpla of the Gundam Epyon that I’ve built. It seems like a staple in a lot of collections, but I avoided buying the Master Grade one because I was a bit put off by the giant wings on the back. But when Bandai announced the RG version, I finally caved and bought this one. I have mixed feelings on this one. The wings do make it very back heavy, and difficult to display without a display stand, but that’s about it said, this is still a phenomenal kit! The engineering of this kit really impressed me, and I’m amazed that Bandai was able to engineer the transformation with the kit only being 1/144 scale. This is such a well done kit!

As far as issues go, this is mostly a pretty solid kit. I’m not fond of how back heavy the wings make this kit. Speaking of the wings, the instructions show the wings being able to move a lot higher up, but I can’t seem to get the ones on mine to do that. It’s not that big of a deal, but I still recommend being careful with the wings. All in all, this is a fantastic Gunpla, and must have for fans of Gundam Wing and the Gundam Epyon. 😄
