I've just realized now why I like the Magatama stories. I think Ogiwara's characterizations of her characters are different from that of typical Japanese stories. Most Japanese stories involve the whole revenge plot and then the 'if the boy dies, the girl inevitably commits suicide to follow'. She breaks this subtly, and her characters end up not in an endless loop of misery. It makes for happier reading and catharsis, unlike so many other stories in their culture.

There's a DSWC fangroup?
My life is now complete.

I just finished this book and loved it. I want to read more from this author.

Woo hoo! :) You're doing a great job with this fandom! <3

hey u commented on something and i can't find where, but yeah i finished the book and i must say i do love it. very good i wish more got/get translated!

Hi... One of my top-favorite books of all time! I was wondering, though, if there was any talk of translating the second book into English? Ever since i read it, I've hope that they would continue translating the rest... This a very neat gallery and the pictures are absolutely fantastic!

Cathy is translating it, but since she's doing so on her own time, she'll need to put that on lower priority (she's working on the Moribito series for Scholastic/Arthur A. Levine right now).

However, if DSWC sells well enough to convince Viz to bring us the sequels, then we will see the rest of the trilogy! Let's keep our fingers crossed; Viz, after all, has nothing to lose, what with the vast majority of their revenue coming in from Naruto, Death Note, Bleach, Fullmetal Alchemist, etc... But then again, you can see how their usual audience doesn't go for novels of the Magatama trilogy caliber.
