Diesel-Punk Tess (and 8 character facts) by SouthpawLynx on DeviantArt (original) (raw)

Andibi tagged me to do 8 character facts about my character Tess. Here are the rules:

Rules:
1. Post the rules.
2. Post 8 facts about your character.
3. Tag 8 other characters.
4. Post their names along with their creators.

Now behold as I break half the rules and only do items 1 and 2:

1. The world Tess occupies is a Diesel-Punk setting which brings the aesthetics off WW2 and post war America into a Sci-Fi setting. Think of it as retro-futurism. The pre-bomb world of Fallout is a great example of this art style.
2. Tess is a military vetran and served as a mechanic in an armored division for the mechanized infantry. Even after her tour of duty, she pursues mechanics as a hobby and for supplemental income.
3. Tess was born to a litter of 5 brothers and had a much more masculine upringing. As a kitten, if she wanted to play, she had to play as her brothers did. It is probably how she became the boisterous tomboy she is.
4. Tess has a very direct personality that some would describe as aggressive. While Tess is generally a positive person, she is affraid she comes off as mean when she is blunt or frank in what she says.
5. Tess tends to have a diverse range of lovers in her past relationships but has avoided long term relationships. When pressed on the subject, she will blame her nature as a cat and the military for training her to be too self reliant. She will never admit that her first love enlisted with her into the military and went MIA during a campaign.
6. Tess loves to read and has a great interest in anthropology but has kept her interest quiet up this point. Fortunately, the military provides some educational opportunities.
7. Tess is spiritual in the Hermetic/ Egyptian tradition. It started off as just something cool when she was younger but turned much more sincere as she matured. She could not tell you if gods and goddesses exist but there is wisdom to be found and she recieves some comfort from the daily and weekly ritual that it gives her. Aside from her ankh, she never talks about. Tess is fond of saying "religion is like a penis. You can be proud of it but you probably shouldn't shove it in someone's face."
8. Design facts (this counts, right?) The design for the character of Tess is inspired by a childhood cat and Vasquez from Aliens. The short hair, Ankh, and general tomboyness come from my wife.
