Description

I'm doing an illustration for each of the major cities of a post-apocolyptic dieselpunk 1910s world I'm building. These pictures are to help set the tone of each of the cities and their inhabitants.

The city of Greenfield is famed for being the center for high technology on Alver. A magnet for scientists and engineers, the city of 1.2 million is run by a technocratic union led by Chief Engineer Andrew King. Uninterested in the wildlands, Greenfield is isolated and relies on food imports from other cities, trading advanced technology in return. A sterotypical Greenfield citizen is confident, impatient, adverse to physical work, and above all: intelligent; who for recreation enjoys debating, electrical toys and displays, or tinkering on personal projects.

Greenfield's speciality dishes are best represented by their chemically and nutritionally fortified preserved foods. Citizens often live off "Sustina", long lasting and highly nutritious but bland biscuits which are also popular with outside explorers or scouts for their long shelf life.
