Sora didn't know about his whole 'spooky eye' thing for a while.
He felt that something was off with that eye, but he just thought that it was to do with his vision and that it wasn't visible to others. Seeing his own reflection in a puddle proved him wrong immediately.
Before he couldn't understand why the other monsters were afraid of him... but he certainly knows now. Poor fella.

This is before he got dragged into a bunch of shenanigans.
