Introducing the first endgame ship for TFIM's EQG counterparts; Rainbow DashxLemon ZestxTwizzle Twirl. Twizzle Twirl was the baton twirler and backup singer for Rainbow's CHS Rally song, and Lemon Zest is Pinkie's dark counterpart. Part of me is amused about how I came up with Rainbowzest before I realized it was shipping RD with Pinkie's counterpart (not to mention Pinkiezap), but I think it actually works. Because they are fundamentally the same person in either Equestria or the Human world, and therefore would likely have similar interests and attractions to characters, so it makes a lot of sense that they'd end up with similar choices. EQG!Dash just took a third option; a third person.
Rainbow Dash earned herself a secret admirer in Twizzle Twirl when she Ponied Up at the end of the CHS Rally song; they had spent a long time choreographing the song and the music and the band, over a few days. The song wasn't spontaneous, but planned for the rally. So they were together and hanging out as they worked, though Twizzle did most of the work, there was something majorly different when they finally performed. The transformation. It had never happened in practice, but when they actually got on stage, they could feel something more than their original intents. Something was in the air, and everything felt like being swept up in a dance where you weren't sure how you knew the moves... and in the end, Rainbow Dash became the center of that energy, and Ponied Up. When Twizzle saw Rainbow Dash full of that magic and enthusiasm and inspiration... well, she got a kind of huge crush on her.
Lemon Zest was a bit different; she ended up finding a kindred spirit in Twizzle during the aftermath of the Friendship Games, with the music. Lemon Zest spent most of her time at Crystal Prep wearing those headphones as a defense, the music was an escape rather than something she thought about. She was so sick and tired of listening to Abacus Cinch and everyone else at Crystal Prep, so finding someone to actually enjoy music with was something new. And they also found themselves kindred spirits with another thing; the magic that they had seen had blown them away, Twizzle during the Rally, and Lemon during the Midnight Sparkle debacle. Both of them saw what the energy was and meant when Sunset said the word 'Loyalty'. Lemon Zest saw Rainbow Dash almost sacrifice herself to pull up a boy she never knew, saving him even though she could have very well fallen in as well. Twizzle saw Rainbow Dash's pride and joy in the school, wanting it to be as good as it could be, and both of them realized they had a crush on her... and strangely, as they talked about Rainbow Dash, they found each other liking the other as well.
Rainbow Dash, well, how could she refuse two awesome groupies?... Eh, that's how she'd like to say it; "Yep, one girlfriend just wasn't enough for my awesomeness.". But really, she did see something in them too. The enthusiasm of them both, even with Lemon Zest's repression, she still had her attitude shine through bright and clear; somebody happy even though she was in a toxic environment. Twizzle had spent a night or two with Rainbow Dash, just practicing the rally, over and over. But when that got boring, or they got too tired to write or practice, they crashed at Rainbow Dash's house for a while. To Rainbow's surprise, the band geek was a big fan of the same shows she watched, sports and action. In retrospect, it would seem obvious that a girl who played lead to the band that played before games would like sports, but you have to cut her some slack for not thinking about it.
