The Star XVII by StarsongDusk on DeviantArt (original) (raw)

This last weekend I was privileged to go for a camping trip with my very best friend in the world. She's not a brony, but she is a dear member of my family, and she endures my constant pony-chatter very well. I'm really lucky to have her in my life. This campground was 6600' above sea level in the Olympic Mountains of Washington State, and we had an entire mountain top to ourselves for an evening of stargazing and astrophotography. Spending time with her with just the stars for company was one of the most significant things I've ever experienced in my life, and it inspired me to draw this in camp the next day.

The Star represents reconnecting ones soul with the divine, the freedom to be ones self. It is a card of rejuvenation and inspiration, and like the Waves and Star in my cutie mark, mean something more than just looking at a dark sky. It is a reconnection with oneself, a chance to shed off burdens of pain and guilt and move forward with your life.

In this drawing Starsong Dusk and my friends ponysona, Sparks, enjoy a look at the night sky with a familiar star smiling down on them to act as a guide.

Love you Sparks, thank you so much for this trip. I needed it deep in my soul.
