Town Description: Based under an ocean, the city of Siretas is home to merfolk lead by King Nerrocen. This city has dark ruins and rough currents which are difficult to traverse. The city itself looks majestic. With its dome roofs, stone and coral buildings and beautiful coral gardens and kelp forests, Siretas has a captivating atmosphere. The main attraction is the town hall which was built 340 years ago by aquatic elves. Siretas has a prosperous economy supported by fishing, jewelcrafting and marine animal taming. But their biggest strengths are oceanic medicine and prosperous trade. However, Siretas lacks people skilled in farming.
The underwater mermaid city, known as Siretas, is nestled deep within the luminous blue-green expanse of the ocean, protected by towering coral reefs and hidden from the surface world. It is a bustling metropolis of shimmering spires, elegant archways, and wide, sweeping boulevards all built from living coral and seashells. The city glows with an ethereal light, powered by bioluminescent plants and creatures that illuminate the streets in soft, shifting colors.
Homes in Siretas are organic, seamlessly blending with the natural landscape of the ocean floor. Each structure is a work of art, crafted by the merfolk from the materials that the sea provides. Many homes are carved directly into towering coral formations, hollowed out into comfortable, multi-leveled dwellings with sweeping, panoramic views of the seafloor below. Some are built from intricately woven kelp, forming soft, flexible domes and arches, while others use the smooth shells of giant clams, large enough to house entire families, as the main walls or roofs.
The roofs of the homes are often adorned with delicate seaweed gardens, where merfolk grow luminous flowers and small aquatic plants. The interiors are elegantly furnished with furnishings made from polished seashells, woven kelp cushions, and delicate pearl mosaics embedded into the walls. Each house is designed to flow with the currents, with large, circular windows that open into the water, allowing residents to swim in and out freely.
The streets of Siretas are not paved but rather formed by naturally occurring, interconnected sandbanks and reefs, with bridges of coral and stone that arch gracefully over the currents. The city’s central square, called The Heart of the Tides, is surrounded by towering structures of ancient coral, where the High Council of merfolk meets to discuss matters of both magic and governance.
The deeper you go, the more vibrant and exotic the architecture becomes, with domed sanctuaries of iridescent mother-of-pearl and crystal-clear palaces made from the rarest of sea-glass. Within these higher districts, the nobility and high mages reside, often in homes that echo the architecture of deep-sea creatures like squids, octopuses, and sea serpents—homes that seem to shimmer with their own internal light.
Note: This is capital of Coarai kingdom.
