I think Disney is torn about whether or not to treat "The Black Cauldron" as a Halloween movie. On one hand it fits being extremely spooky and weird being one of their darkest films with it literally about stopping the army of the undead summoned by the Horned King. On the other...it's continued infamy and not having other elements of most Disney films make it hard to push for this time of year: it doesn't have the whimsy of "The Nightmare Before Christmas", the silliness of "Hocus Pocus", the park-relevance of "The Haunted Mansion"...and it's just way easier to make bank with dressing up the mascots (the Mickeys, Poohs and Stitches of the world) in costumes than to push a movie like this; let alone the "popular villains" are just easier to make more "iconic" than the grim-faced demon being with red eyes and horns on his head. I was shocked to see that they made a pin for the movie stating it's a Halloween one; pins are one of the few medium the franchise still exists, and even then it's just one pin, only sold at the Disney parks and not even a series or part of a series and the pins for this franchise are extremely few and far between compared to the popular ones.
But that doesn't mean I can't keep calling this a Halloween franchise and try to push it with things I like. I've been impressed by a couple things that I think just worked perfectly together with this Eilonwy pic: one is the "Midnight Masquarade" thing that Disney did for a bit dressing their female (and the occasional male...but I think that was reduced to Hades) characters up for the Haloween season. The other was a great pic that showed a "what-if" of having Eilonwy with the Horned King's elements done by long ago as part of a "Final Fantasy class" series (Necromancer Eilonwy) that made me just imagine her "embracing the darkness" for a Halloween-style pic. Yeah I did my own flourishes since I just felt the ballgown and hair were needed (in callback to this: Rococo-lonwy - Evelynegontier) but I'd probably see her wanting to show regality if she was to be a pseudo-Horned King in this manner.
BTW: I honestly thing this is Eilonwy's true hair here....not merely a wig. (though some would say it could be but I think it's amazing/adorable)
