They live near Pantala, and hunt creatures as big as krakens (Krakens are technically in wings of fire, you see them on the pantalian map and are mentioned in the guide to the dragon world). They have a wide range of colours, and communicate with echolocation. due to the large amounts of prey attracted by light, They often have pet anglerfish to help them hunt. They also have shark fins, like the ones displayed on the coloured example.

queen:

Queen Angler

naming:

creatures and plants that live deep underwater, typically in the twilight zone and nighttime zone (or whatever the darkest zone in the water was called) (but theyre NEVER called whale, I wonder why) (YES, WHALES DO GO DOWN THAT DEEP SHUT UP)

unique traits:

they have quite a long snout, and for the most part, have a very aerodynamic body, with their horns nearly straight behind their head. They have fins, and if something hits the tip at high speed, it could cause a dangerous wound.

they have gills, and the edges are almost completely straight. They have a similar wing shape to skywings. Some, due to the lack of time they spend above the water, cannot breathe air, and the dragons that inherit that are slowly losing wing size, due to the fact that they don’t need them. They have a few glowing markings on their tail, but use calls, similar to those of a dolphin, to communicate underwater. High classed dragonets are taught how to speak dragon in caves near the ocean. Their eyes are pitch black, allowing them to see better in the darkness of their home.

culture:

The tribe is split into three classes, Pearl class (the highest class) shell class (most of the tribe) and oyster class (these DeepWings get little to no respect, and entire villages can die without anyone caring). The queen often hosts parties at the palace, but, unfortunately, only high classed dragons and servants are allowed to attend, meaning lower classed DeepWings are forced to make their own parties. When a DeepWing hatches, they are presented to the queen, if they are too small, then they are thrown outside to attract prey, and usually die in the process, but the ones that are big enough then get to live the rest of their lives, as long as they survive dragonethood. About 20% of dragonets die before they reach adulthood
