The Prayer Answering Windstorm Part 3

Caroline woke up early, excited to begin her journey home. By the time Michaela was out of bed, the princess was already raring to go. Upon noticing her, Michaela said, “Don’t get too hasty, I’m not the only person you’re waiting on.” Only a few moments later, that person walked in and introduced himself to Caroline. “Hi, I’m Rekono. Used to be a sailor, but Gaofara’s my captain now. Micha wants me to come along because of my experience, which seems good to me — have to cross the sea between Taish and Kethea somehow.” Caroline replied, “Nice to meet you, and I look forward to travelling alongside you.” Once all three of them had a meal in their belly and a travel outfit on their body, they set out. Their experience made the trip through the valley easy. As expected, the wind didn’t let up when they left it. Ordinary people were probably wondering why stormwinds were present without the rest of the storm, but it seemed likely that Vesou was just as cognizant of the reason as

A Sweeping Squall [37: Broom]

In the skies above a prairie flew a witch. The only part of her that didn’t fit the classical image of one was her beauty: The pointy hat, long black dress, and rideable broom were all there, but so was a silky mane of hair. Both hair and dress trailed behind her as she flew, oblivious by choice to the graying sky around her. Her assumption the clouds were of no importance was quickly proven false when the squall they were a part of brought a crosswind too intense to ignore. The broom was swept away by the wind, and its rider came with it. Both the adhesion spell keeping her in proper riding position, with the broom between her legs, and the levitation spell keeping the broom airborne were too strong for the gale to overpower. However, she had to disable the propulsion spell because the broom was tilting leeward. It made the broom accelerate in the direction the handle was pointed in, so keeping it on would’ve been risky. In the worst case, she’d be sent even further away from her

The Prayer Answering Windstorm Part 1

Princess Caroline Nataria of Kethea listlessly watched the sun go down from the balcony of her gilded cage. She’d been told to get sleep for her wedding tomorrow, but couldn’t for lack of desire to. The marriage was a political tool to allow Prince Vesou Amira of Taish to bind Kethea to his will, using her as a hostage. Once the marriage was official, any attempt to save her would be faux pas, so she was consigned to be a puppet or a corpse. For lack of better options, Caroline began praying for help. She explained every detail of her predicament to nobody in particular, unaware that someone was listening. When Caroline finished talking, the calm air of the balcony was suddenly overtaken by a gale, yet the trees below her remained still. The gale’s creator soon made herself apparent, appearing from the shimmering light of the stars. She wore a skirt made of grass longer than her legs, a leaf shawl short enough to reveal her midriff, and a vine tied around her neck like a scarf.
