Collab: Dance of Souls by Tazihound on DeviantArt (original) (raw)

Yael watched as the flickering firelight basked the pack in a blazing glow. The wolves swayed in time with the Sages’ rhythmic hymns, circling the flames in an ethereal dance. The chanting invigorated her soul, and her thoughts lingered on her Grandmother Winema, known only to her in the stories passed down from her Mother. Ondmuna was a time for the pack to remember what was lost. Fellfang’s wounds had scarred, but she could see on the faces of her pack, they were learning how to trust once again. It was more than a superstitious dance- it was a time to rekindle their bonds. She felt a sapling of hope bloom within her chest.

Across the fire, through the flaming embers, Yael’s eyes locked on Misha. He was nearly invisible to the night, his dark fur fusing with the shadows. But his golden eyes gleamed brilliantly in the firelight. Her heart ached, for she knew who he remembered on this day- a father which he had tragically never known in life. She stepped around the throng of wolves and drifted toward him. He seemed complacent enough to linger along the edge of the group and watch the scene unfold before him. As she approached him, Yael saw the colorful pigments still staining his pelt from their rowdy battle earlier in the day, and a smile stole up her maw.

“Dance with me?” She asked, and beckoned him toward the flames.

A collaboration with the talented Kiwiaka, featuring our Fellfangirs Yael and Misha enjoying the Ondmuna festivities! I did the sketch and shading, and Kiwi did the lines, colors, and the gorgeous BG! Misha's unsure of how to dance, but Yael is happy to take the lead! Thanks for collaborating with me Kiwi :la:
