Bluestar- I've Seen A Lot by The-Skykian-Archives on DeviantArt (original) (raw)

Bluestar looks down, kindly, as a kit gazes at her with admiration. "Wow, Bluestar, I bet you've seen everything!"

The comment makes the old she-cat prick her ears. He has no idea... "Hmph," she laughs softly. "Well, I've seen a lot." As Bluestar gives a melancholy smile, memories flicker through her eyes like a gentle rain shower.

Yeah that's a scene I just made up.

Anyhow, drew this the day after I finished "Bluestar's Prophecy," the first Warriors book to actually make me want to cry. Wow, Bluestar had it rough.....

The book follows her from her kithood to the time when she finds out about Rusty's Prophecy. I loved reading it, it was the first time I actually got to read the life and adventures of a NORMAL clanborn cat for once xD

Anyhow, it's a great book, and though it's got a lot of heartwrenches thrown in there, it's an absolute must-read. So read, people!

Ok, from now on is a discussion about the book itself (spoilers!!) So if you haven't read it, don't read.....

1. I just couldn't bring myself to like Stormtail, at all. I think it's pretty obvious that he had just used Moonflower for kits, because he showed absolutely no care for her whatsoever, and I think he was already cheating on her with Dappletail before she died. He stayed near Dappletail the whole time, defended only her in the WindClan battle, and when Moonflower was being ripped to shreds by Hawkheart all Stormtail wanted to do was keep his speshul Dappletail protected. And when everyone else was noticing that Moonflower died, neither he nor Dappletail seemed to notice. They were just leaning against each other, limping back to camp. Stormtail didn't even sit vigil for Moonflower....

Later on in the book, Stormtail gives an occasional "Moonflower would be proud of you" quote to Bluefur, but the memories end there. Even later, he and Dappletail become mates.

Two-timin' jerk .-.

2. Hey, anyone notice that strange quote? When Sunfall sighs and tells Bluepaw he misses Moonflower too, and his tone is so strange and grieving that Bluepaw has to look at him in surprise? I think he had loved Moonflower and was hoping to be her mate instead of Stormtail... I think I really like this couple now, Sun x Moon <333 It just fits.

3. Whitekit's so adoriblez!!! x333333

4. The moment I came across the part where Snowfur said she smelled ShadowClan cats near the Thunderpath, I actually shut the book and had to close my eyes and breath for a bit. I was just like.... "Oh, come on, not now...." Anyone who has read Secrets of the Clans knows exactly what comes next after this scene. I read on, and sure enough it happened. Snowfur's death was awful.

I felt really sorry for Whitekit, though. He was taken in by Robinwing afterwards but seeing Bluefur just shunning him for the first two weeks after Snowfur was really sad. Whitekit really looked up to her.

And then came that scene where Bluefur had a nightmare about him drowning in a river, and she wakes up in the middle of night rushes into the nursery and cuddles Whitekit till morning x3 And their bond was fixed after that. I loved that scene, so heartwarming....

5. Gosh I hate Hawkheart. I mean, yeah, if a bunch of WindClan cats had invaded ThunderClan's camp to destroy their herbs, of course it'd seem right to attack or maim the warrior somehow, but... killing?! And he enjoyed it, too! He kept rushing after Moonflower, grabbing her by the neck and banging her against the ground, ripping her shoulder, finally picking her up and throwing her in a way that ripped her throat finally open.... that was just, awful. If he had been acting all regretful-but-stern about it, like, "She was destroying my Clan's lifeline! What could I do?" But instead he's acting all haughty about it, even sneering at and teasing Bluepaw when she's trying to get Moonflower to respond even with the death scent on her. That sicko.

And it certainly wasn't helping with him coming over to Bluepaw at gatherings just to say, "Well if it isn't the kit-warrior... have you become an apprentice, yet? *sneer*" Calling her the name he had given her just before he leapt in and attacked Moonflower. He knew very well that every time he came by her, sneered at her, called her that name, that he was reminding Bluepaw: "I killed your mother, I took her away from you, you little ThunderClan s***. >3"

The only word in my head whenever I saw his name was B**t**d.

6. I found Oakheart and Bluefur's relationship kind of rushed, and it ended pretty abruptly. But Stonekit, Mistykit, and Mosskit were all so cute, I loved reading about them x3

Though it was so, so sad when Mosskit died, and as Bluefur was walking away with Stonekit and Mistykit, she could see the outline of Snowfur walking away with Mosskit bouncing along at her side....

And when they started calling for her after she left them with Oakheart, asking when she was coming back, asking her to stay with them a little, Bluefur couldn't take it and just ran off...

Wow. She seriously lost everything, all for the sake of ThunderClan. She lost her mom to a battle, her sister to chasing off intruders, her mate because of her loyalty to her Clan, and, in the end, her kits, just to make sure that Thistleclaw didn't lead the Clan into blood just like her medicine cat predicted.

And of course, the loss of Sunfall/star, her only real father figure...

7. Bluestar's recieving nine lives was a really sad, but inspiring scene. Especially when Sunstar, Moonflower, Snowfur, and Mosskit all gave a life to Bluestar. What an awesome scene <3

By the time we came to the point where Rusty was about to enter their lives, my whole view on Bluestar changed. Suddenly she wasn't some mysterious, wise leader with a hint of melancholy in her character, but an admirable, elderly warrior who I felt I knew really well and respected. Bluestar's story is epic, but in a way tragic. She gave everything, from her family to all nine of her lives, all for the sake of ThunderClan's survival. She certainly earned her place in StarClan, though I wish her long life could have had some kind of a happier ending...

And that's all xD
