Each Set pays homage to a psychological theory.

This first Set is based on Plutchik’s Wheel :

In 1980, Robert Plutchik suggested a classification of emotional responses based on the evolution of species.

He identified 8 unique emotions, divided into 4 pairs of opposites :

• Joy / Sadness
• Trust / Disgust
• Fear / Anger
• Surprise / Anticipation

Each of these suggested emotions were arranged in a spectrum :

• Serenity → Joy → Ecstasy
• Acceptance → Trust → Admiration
• Apprehension → Fear → Terror
• Distraction → Surprise → Amazement
• Pensiveness → Sadness → Grief
• Boredom → Disgust → Loathing
• Annoyance → Anger → Rage
• Interest → Anticipation → Vigilance

All together, they formed Plutchik’s Wheel - a classification tool used to study the inner mechanisms of the brain, and the behaviours that emerge from them.
