Accordingly, power has been much reduced to a still considerable 462 hp from a twin turbocharged 4 liter V8, with the S version achieving 510 hp. It is also both smaller and lighter than the SLS. While it lacks the gullwing doors, the more rounded shape with soft curves is a descendant in spirit to the original 300SL. Over 90% of the lightweight spaceframe is manufactured from aluminum. A rear aerofoil extends at speed for improved traction.
