Anarcho-Communist Irish Flag by Todyo1798 on DeviantArt (original) (raw)

It didn't turn out as nice as I expected, but here's a quick and dirty ancom Irish flag, just since they're lacking over here. I like the Starry Plough and all but sure that's been co-opted by socdems and all.

So for a little overview: you've the pike, the traditional weapon of Irish rebellion dating back to the sixteenth and seventeenth centuries, and of course the famous AK47, because if any gun is associated with revolution it's the workers friend. I didn't use the armalite the IRA was known for using because this isn't a flag for the IRA, it's for anarchists.

The quote is from the poem of the same name, performed here by the well known singer and socialist Luke Kelly of the Dubliners. It's essentially lamenting increasing dominance of Ireland by foreign capital, particularly through the EU (or EEC as it was for Luke), and aligning growing European influence with past occupiers and aggressors, most notably from England.
